Apple Crumble

Apple Crumble is a very humble and simple Dessert. Its quite healthy and is super simple to make. The simplicity about this Dessert is, you don't have to shop anything special for this. Everyone has all the ingredients needed for this at home all the time. So, if you are having a sweet tooth or your guests overstayed after lunch :) you can also whip it in no time. Actually, technically there will be no whipping needed in this recipe but you know what I mean here. When the girls were small, I had cheated on them many times and have used wholemeal flour instead of normal white flour. Today I used half white flour but to be honest, I can say I liked the nutty texture and the taste of the whole meal flour. But you can use whatever you fancy. Ingredients: - 6 apples, cored, peeled and diced - 1 heaped tsp cinnamon powder - 1 tsp finely grated ginger - handful of raisins For the topping: - 180 gms flour - 80 gms sugar - 2-3 Tbsp Ghee/50 gms butter - 2 Tbsp Almond powder Method: 1. Wash the apples. Core, peel and dice them and put them in a baking dish. 2. Add the cinnamon powder, ginger and raisins to the apples. Mix them all well. Keep it aside. 3. Take the flour, sugar, almond powder and ghee in a mixing bowl. Mix it all well until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. 4. Add the topping on top of the apples and press is with a soft hand. 5. Bake it in a preheated oven at 180° for 25-30 minutes. 6. Serve with whipped creme, vanilla ice creme, fresh berries or Greek yogurt. Tip: This time I took ghee but you can very well take butter and instead of normal white flour, wholemeal four tastes good too. About the apples, there are so many varities available here. I took the pink lady which is a bit sour-isch. But if you take like gala, which is on the sweeter side, then add a few drop of lime juice to the apples. If you decide to take Boskoop then you might want to increase the sugar by a tablespoon as the Boskoop are a bit sour.
